Born in Seoul and raised amidst the diverse cultures of Oregon, Toronto, and Atlanta, my design vision reflects the intersection of past-century Korean design, the rich art culture of Toronto, and American Mid-Century Modern. Seoul, the city where I lived for 16 years, left an indelible mark on the aesthetic that has become a design philosophy.
The city's understatement, the interplay between ostentation and simplicity, elegance, essence, and vibrant colors are the core of design philosophy. Conversely, my time spent in Western and Eastern America nurtured a completely new approach based on simplicity, the harmony of form and function, and the use of geometric shapes and lines.
Architecture, interior, graphics, and photography are the essential domains that represent me and serve as the starting point for my inspiration. From observing a single grain of sand to gazing at the vast sky, I indulge in extensive imagination but don't stop there; I strive to capture every moment. Each of my projects is a harmony of my imagination and essence. Since every story begins with something small and finishes with grateful ends, I would be grateful if you took the time to appreciate my narrative.
서울에서 태어나 오리건, 토론토, 애틀랜타까지 다양한 문화에서 자란 저의 디자인 비전은 지난 세기의 한국 디자인, 토론토의 예술 문화, 그리고 미국 미드 센추리 모던의 교차점을 반영합니다. 16년 동안 서울에서 살았던 저에게 이 도시는 디자인의 상징이 된 미학에 지울 수 없는 흔적을 남겼습니다.
서울의 절제, 과시와 소박함, 단아함, 본질, 생동감 있는 색상은 저의 디자인 철학에 핵심입니다. 반면, 미국의 서부와 동부에서 보낸 시간은 간결함, 형태와 기능의 조화, 기하학적 형태와 선의 활용을 기반으로 한 전혀 새로운 접근 방식을 길러냈습니다.
건축, 인테리어, 그래픽, 사진까지 다양한 분야는 저를 대변하는 본질적인 영역이며 영감의 시작점입니다. 작은 모래알부터 넓은 하늘을 바라보며 많은 상상을 하는 저는 상상에서 그치지 않고 매 순간을 담아내려고 노력합니다. 저의 모든 프로젝트는 저의 상상과 본질의 조화입니다. 모든 이야기는 작은 것에서 시작하여 감사한 마무리로 끝나기에 저의 이야기를 천천히 감상해 주시면 감사하겠습니다.
